Welcome to our new clinic!

We’re excited to announce that we’ve officially moved into our new clinic, down the road in Thatcham House, this month. We’d been looking for new premises for a while but hadn’t found the right one – until now!

It’s a brand new, purpose-built clinic room in a beautiful setting with easy access from Thatcham and Newbury.  It’s much larger and well-ventilated than the previous clinic too, with its own COVID-secure waiting room. This gives us room to increase capacity and appointment availability.

You can now find us at Suite 14-15, Thatcham House, Turners Drive, Thatcham, RG19 4QD – for directions, click here.

There’s free parking right outside the clinic. And don’t worry – we’re the same friendly, helpful, COVID-secure podiatry service as before!

What’s the history of Thatcham House?

Thatcham House was the residence of Isobel Tull and The Reverend Martin of Thatcham. They owned Thatcham House from 1869 – 1871. It was originally a 30-roomed property with several timber casement windows bays. The drawing room led off into a conservatory where hot and humid conditions were maintained by the gardener to produce a variety of ferns, lilies, fuchsias, and other plants. There was a long driveway leading from Station Road along with formal gardens, a kitchen garden, orchard, rose garden and sunken lawns; to the northeast was a stable/coach house.

Many of the original features still remain, including the main front door (now the disabled entrance), the conservatory at the back and the wonderful turrets on the top of the building! As I drive up to the clinic, I thought how grand this house must have been.

Thatcham House today

There are now 21 suites which are all rented out to different businesses. We are renting suite 14-15, which includes a large clinic room and a smaller waiting room. It’s easily accessible from the A4 and Thatcham town centre, and is on the main bus route from Thatcham. There is also a large car park outside with ample free parking.

We have worked hard to transform the suites into a purpose-built clinic space, with lots of potential to expand. The cheaper rates here also mean I can hold the prices for another year and invest in recruitment. We’ve just taken on Courtney, who is a friendly, dedicated receptionist, working 5 days a week, 8.30-5.30pm. This means you have an immediate point of contact during office hours.

Cancellation and waiting lists will also be coordinated by Courtney, enabling us to manage these more efficiently. The added benefit of this centralised admin is that we can offer more clinic hours. This should improve your experience even further, whenever you visit West Berkshire Foot Clinic.

Transforming the space

It’s been a long process to get where we are today. Check out pictures to see how we’ve transformed the space.
